Pressure cooked meals
We are often asked if our meals are delivered fresh or frozen.
They are pressure cooked. We use the freshest of local ingredients, along with some imported ones (the ones we don't grow in Australia) then pressure cook them in a (very) large pressure cooking oven.
This means that they don't need to be refrigerated and they have a long shelf life.
Pressure cooking allows us to seal in maximum nutrition, aroma and flavour and they taste amazing.
Heinz use this method for the soups and baby foods (you'll see these sitting on supermarket shelves). Used widely around the rest of the world, this method is quite new to Australia. We love it as it means we can deliver to you wherever you live in Australia.
Your meals are delivered in stand up pouches, already cooked, and completely sterile. All you need to do is tear the corner off (to let steam out), put it in the microwave and heat for a couple of minutes. You can also heat the meals in a saucepan or in the oven (in this case you would remove the packaging first and put the meal into an appropriate dish then warm).
